“I had had the head for almost two weeks and had only just got round to executing my original plan, which was to obtain a 3-D laser scan of the head using equipment I had access to at the University where I was working on my PhD. To avoid interfering with anybody else’s research I went in after hours to scan the head. This meant I missed my regular Wednesday night climbing spot with a couple of my friends, though I agreed to meet them in the pub when I had finished.

I plonked the head on the table whilst we sat around to enjoy some fine ales. The pub wasn’t busy but after a while a group of people came over to talk to me on their way out. Obviously they were curious as to why I had a mannequin head sat on the table. I tried to explain that I was not a crazy person but was instead taking part in a global collaborative art project, and one of them took a picture of me on their phone.

“All she had was the photograph of someone she didn’t know with a mannequin head on her phone the next morning!”

The next day the head was posted to Italy.

A month or two later I was just leaving another pub when the barmaid stopped me and said “I have a picture of you on my phone!” I was simultaneously worried and intrigued by this, so I was relieved when she loaded up the following image (see attached).

Apparently she had been somewhat intoxicated that night at the other pub and had no memory of our conversation, or even meeting me. All she had was the photograph of someone she didn’t know with a mannequin head on her phone the next morning!”
