When Janet mentioned an upcoming trip to Mexico for the Festival of the Dead, we assured her she would have a head to bring along for the ride. Come on, a festival for dead people and dismembered heads go together like peanut butter and jelly.
A few of our favorite things from the trip are the fact that not only did Janet thrust the head into the hands of the locals (see photo 10/13) but she also took it with her on a sightseeing trip to some of the ruins in the area! Admittedly, she also sent us some video of the head being kicked (lovingly) down the steps of the very same ruins which means our “No heads were hurt in the making of this video” disclaimer is now void.
Interesting fact. If you listen closely to the video, you’ll hear a young child say “es una cabeza” (it’s a head) as it rolls down the steps. This of course is followed by a bit of laughter. And if we know anything about our heads in public it was probably nervous laughter, elicited from the adults as they shuffle their children far, far away from Janet.
