THP, meet PhotoFriday

That’s right folks, we’re using photofriday.com as an excuse to dig up and dust off some of the first Head Project contributions. And heck, who knows, maybe we’ve got something else up our sleeves too.

Each week, we’ll take a look at the challenge, scour through the hundreds of images we have in our THP Archives and find the one we think best fits the bill. We’ll post the image here for everyone to see.

For this weeks challenge, the theme was ‘flight’ and we instantly knew where to look.

Ryan Schude goes postal

It was mentioned by one of our fans that we didn’t give the contribution of Ryan Schude enough attention, tucking it away in the same post as our update for Silvie. We’d have to agree.

Rest assured folks, there is still a lot of fine tuning to be done here at theheadproject.com and when to update and how to update is one of those things we are still working on.

Ryan Schude let us know that he’d handed 002 over to his roomate, Dan Busta who will be picking up where Ryan left off. We were a bit concerned that he’d not had any fun and just wanted to rid himself of 002 but that all went away when we got his contribution photo in our inbox.

Simply put… AMAZING.

He’s asked that we post it on the THP Flickr for the time being (due to a funny bit of info we can’t share yet) so you can check his contribution out here. We definitely recommend viewing it fullsize.

Silvie, round 2!

She told us there’d be more… we just weren’t expecting it so soon! It looks like Silvie has added 13 new photos to her THP contribution set!
You can check those out here.

There’s a rumor that Silvie managed to shoot 3 different sets and so far, we’ve only seen two.

All we can say is, “Silvie, get uploading!!”

Silvie: Out of Time

Days like today are both happy and sad for us here at THP Headquarters.

Silvie from Sardinia, Italy has finished her two weeks with 001 (Meira) and has handed the head over Laura Manchinu from the same city. Of course we’re sad that 001 is moving on, but we’re overjoyed because this also means an update from Silvie.

We love what she did. Silvie also let us know that she may be updating her Flickr with a few more images so when she does, we’ll be sure to let you know!

Check out the contributions of Silvie here.

“I already miss her a lot…” – Silvie

Stephen & Nick Show

THP got a shout out on the Stephen & Nick Show, based out of Chicago, IL. You’ll find it at approximately 3:40

Although they claim it’s ‘official,’ we really had nothing to do with it… but heck, we’re flattered.

We’ll be sure to send them a case of beer and (a) head for an upcoming episode!

#002 hits the map

As some of you probably noticed in this post, we made quick mention of the fact that we’d added #002 to the project but didn’t share any further information. We did it on purpose. We were busy trying to convince a few people to participate.

In the end… it worked.

We’re happy to announce the addition of Ryan Schude. We don’t know how he does it (and we don’t want to) but we are uber-excited to see what he comes up with in the next two weeks.

We were told by Ryan that #002 was received “the other day” at his home in Los Angeles, CA.

#001 lands in Sardinia, Italy!

#001 touched down in Sardinia, Italy yesterday into the loving hands of Silvie! She was kind enough to post an opening photo here.

We can’t wait for more!

project(ed) cost

Although project participation is free for everyone else, sadly, we can’t say the same for those of us (me) here at THP Headquarters. We wish it were otherwise, but running the project costs money. To offset some of this cost, we’ve added a donation feature to the website.

Your donations, in conjunction with personal cash, will go toward basic things like the cost of hosting the website as well as more expensive things like purchasing new heads, initial shipping costs from THP Headquarters to you, promotions and helping out with a lot of other little things.

For example

  • $10 USD keeps the website up and running for 1 month
  • $50 USD is the average cost per head (including shipping to contributor)

You can donate $1 or $1,000,000. Every little bit helps!
To make a donation, click here or use the link to the left.

The world will thank you!

New Photos from #001

It’s bedtime for us here at THP Headquarters but I wanted to let everyone know that Carey has updated her Flickr with her THP photos from the last week or so!!

We love her photos and hope you do too!! We’ve also got more to say but that’s gonna have to wait until tomorrow. We’re tired!

You can check out her photos here!

#002 and more!

As the project grows, it will become increasingly more difficult to get your hands on a head if we only have one to go around so we’ve made it our duty to seek out new additions to the project.

So far, our list of upcoming contributors is still rather small (see below) but what we lack in quantity, we make up for in quality!!

Contributor City, State Country Samples
Silvie Cagliari, Sardinia Italy (coming soon!)
Laura Manchinu Cagliari, Sardinia Italy (coming soon!)
Elkie Vanstiphout Liege Belgium (coming soon!)
Robb Hohmann Washington, DC USA (coming soon!)

You can keep up on who we add to the project in the future or if you’ve been accepted as a contributor, you can see where you are on the list by checking out the contributors page.

With all of this in mind, we’ve acquired another head (#002)!

In the coming months, we’ll also be rolling out a few other little things we’ve been brainstorming, all of which are intended to make project participation easier and open to more people. Although we’re keeping the details secret until everything is in order, we’ll at least tell you what the two big ideas are!

  1. Adopt-a-head
  2. Free Range Heads

What this means for you is regardless whether you’ve already sent in a request for participation or you’re planning on it, your chances of getting your hands on a head are greatly increased (which is good right?!)

Keep checking back for updates.
